Staff or Senior Accountant
SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day accounting as well as monthly
financial reconciliations for key accounts in a fast-paced environment. An effective Senior
Accountant will have a solid knowledge of GAAP and must be a highly organized professional
with a great eye for detail. The senior accountant must be reliable and able to carry out tasks
autonomously and collaboratively. The senior accountant’s goal is to keep the accounting and
financial processes of the company up to standard and ensure accurate financial reporting and
control. This is a full-time, hybrid role with one-day remote work per non-close week. You will
report to the Accounting Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Review and post labor and project cost allocations amongst Parent and Affiliates, with related
Intercompany GL reconciliations
● Review and post payroll and bonus-related journal entries
● Review and post Stock Based Comp and Equity related journal entries and GL reconciliations
● Review and post Health Insurance operational and statutory journal entries
● Review and post Medical Liability reserves (e.g. IBNR) and work with the company actuary to
validate claims triangle and claims trends/ratios
● Review and post accrued liabilities (e.g. legal and marketing) journal entries and related GL
reconciliations
● Reconcile payroll related Balance Sheet accounts, working closely with the payroll department
to clear
reconciling items
● Review bank account reconciliations
● Reconcile Tax Payable and Property Tax accounts
● Review P&L for cause of change explanation or reclasses
● Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
● Prepare various general ledger reconciliations and record appropriate journal entries
● Assist with other areas of the monthly close, financial statements, and reporting package
● Develop and document business processes, related accounting procedures, and accounting
policies to
maintain and strengthen internal controls
● Seek ways to improve the workflow and processes by automating work and reports when
possible
● Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
● Assist with internal management financial reporting
● Cross-train and assist with other accounting functions on a needed or backup basis
● Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
● Assist Audit Manager with lead and coordination of annual and quarterly audits
● Perform additional assignments as needed
QUALIFICATIONS

● An understanding of GAAP
● Prior experience with NetSuite ERP System is a plus
● Health care insurance accounting experience preferred
● Desire to learn and grow one’s skill set
● Efficient communication and ability to work in a team environment
● Proficient in MS Excel
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
● Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration or related field
● Senior Accountant: 4+ years’ experience preferred
● Accounting experience in Health Insurance industry with statutory accounting preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CPA certification preferred
