WA was founded in 2019 and currently employs over 30 professionals, including Certified Financial Planners, public accountants, investment management analysts, and a top-tier team of service professionals.
The Position:
The Staff Accountant will support the organization’s accounting operations through month-end and year-end close processes, reconciliations, financial reporting support, and maintaining accurate financial records. This individual will play a key role in ensuring compliance, improving processes, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
This is an in-person role based in Melville, NY.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end close
- Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed asset schedules, depreciation, and amortization entries
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and reconciliations
- Assist with monthly financial statements, management reporting, and variance analysis
- Maintain accurate financial records, schedules, and supporting documentation
- Support tax filings, audits, and requests from external advisors
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, internal controls, automation, and system enhancements
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or CPA-eligible status preferred
- Approximately 2–3 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
- Public accounting experience or relevant industry experience is a plus
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Experience with accounting software or ERP systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar platforms
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and formulas
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
- Collaborative and proactive team player who exercises sound judgment and professionalism when handling confidential information
Compensation & Benefits
