Scope of Position
We seek a skilled and analytical Electrical Project Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong problem-solving aptitude and be capable of supporting automation, electrical systems, and instrumentation initiatives across a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with testing and evaluating equipment under consideration for installation or purchase.
- Oversee the calibration program for all instrumentation across the facility.
- Support the engineering and IT teams with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of programmable logic controllers (PLC), human-machine interfaces (HMI), and other plant-floor hardware/software systems.
- Collaborate with IT to maintain and troubleshoot interfaces between plant-floor equipment and internal IT systems.
- Develop, document, and deliver operational procedures and training content for production teams.
- Lead hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, and analysis focused on increasing equipment reliability and reducing downtime.
- Interpret and update technical drawings, including P&IDs and electrical distribution diagrams.
- Identify and lead small-scale improvement projects (e.g., panel rewiring, wire pulling, new automation installations).
- Serve as backup support for the Electrical & Automation Engineer during off-shifts or planned absences.
- Provide assistance with building management and security system operations.
- Collaborate on creating and maintaining preventative and predictive maintenance procedures, particularly within systems and calibration areas.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment focusing on electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of low, medium, and high-voltage installations and relevant electrical codes and standards.
- Solid experience with instrumentation and process control systems.
- Familiarity with food processing operations and industry-specific technologies is a plus.
- Working knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), manufacturing IT, industrial networks, and automation applications.
- Practical knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and Control Logix systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and electrical installation, including AC/DC systems (up to 480V), motors, drives, relays, and meters.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Windows OS.
- Experience with calibration processes and AutoCAD is preferred.
- Understanding electrical safety standards and food safety regulations is beneficial.
