Scope of Position
Our client seeks a dynamic and strategic Vice President of Software to lead the Air Traffic Management Software (ATMSW) division. This division oversees a diverse and technically complex portfolio with over $395M in annual revenue, delivering mission-critical software systems for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and key international partners, including the UK, New Zealand, and Singapore.
As the ATMSW Division Manager, you will be accountable for the successful delivery and operational excellence of major programs such as ERAM, ATOP, TBFM, TFDM, EIDS, AAM, and OARS, as well as international solutions like the company's ATM Skyline product. You’ll drive strategic growth, ensure high-quality program execution, and foster innovation in both domestic and global markets.
This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Civil Solutions and plays a key role in shaping the future of global air traffic management solutions.
Travel Required: Regular travel to Washington, DC; Eagan, MN; Atlantic City, NJ; and international locations as needed
Responsibilities
- Lead a large-scale, multi-program portfolio, ensuring technical excellence, programmatic success, and financial performance.
- Drive employee engagement and foster a culture of integrity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and execute strategic growth plans in U.S. and international air traffic management markets.
- Maintain strong relationships with FAA stakeholders and international customers.
- Oversee large-scale systems development, technical transitions, and operations and maintenance (O&M) efforts.
- Collaborate across the enterprise to identify synergies, drive cross-sector solutions, and explore adjacent market opportunities.
- Serve as a key leader in new business development, capture strategies, and proposal efforts.
- Ensure compliance with international contract execution and export control regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience overseeing large, complex technical programs (portfolio value of $250M+), including prime contractor responsibility.
- Strong understanding of FAA systems, networks, and operational environments, or the ability to quickly develop domain expertise.
- Successfully managed large, distributed teams (500+ employees) in system engineering, software development, and testing.
- Record of delivering technical innovation and growth within mission-critical and regulated environments.
- Experience leading successful U.S. and international programs and captures, including familiarity with global air traffic systems and standards.
- Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and a passion for aviation safety and modernization.
- Experience in transitioning between industries/customers with proven positive results.
- Expertise in proposal development, business development, and international contract execution.
- Knowledge of export control regulations and international compliance requirements.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 13+ years of experience.
- Minimum of 12 years in leadership roles, managing geographically distributed teams and complex projects.
