Organization: Memphis River Parks – Nonprofit 501(c)(3) Public–Private Partnership

Location: Downtown Memphis, TN

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Memphis River Parks is a nonprofit public–private partnership dedicated to enhancing, maintaining, and activating public park spaces in collaboration with the City of Memphis. Through thoughtful stewardship, community engagement, and strategic investment, we work to ensure our parks remain vibrant, welcoming spaces for residents and visitors.


Position Overview

The Director of Finance provides strategic leadership and oversight for the organization’s financial operations. This role manages budgeting, financial reporting, accounting, and compliance while ensuring responsible stewardship of public, philanthropic, and earned revenue. The Director of Finance works closely with the CEO, leadership team, Board of Directors, and City partners to support the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization’s financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Oversee accounting operations, including financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, and internal controls.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports and insights to leadership and the Board.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements, including audit and Form 990 preparation.
  • Manage financial reporting related to grants, public funding, and restricted funds.
  • Collaborate with City partners and internal teams on budgets related to park operations, programming, and capital projects.
  • Support fundraising initiatives through grant budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Maintain financial policies, systems, and procedures that support organizational growth and accountability.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 7+ years of progressive financial management experience.
  • Nonprofit financial management experience preferred.
  • CPA, MBA, or related certification is a plus.
  • Experience with grant management, public funding, or municipal partnerships is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
