Team UIS is a specialty electrical services provider with more than four decades of industry experience. The team offers NETA-certified testing and a variety of other services. Backed by skilled electricians, technicians, engineers, and programmers, they deliver solutions to a wide range of critical industries, including utilities, healthcare, data centers, manufacturing, infrastructure, and transportation, primarily across the Midwest region.

Training Director

The Training Director develops and manages the structured technical training to significantly expand NETA Level 3 and Level 4 technicians. This is not an HR generalist or corporate learning role. It is an operational leadership position responsible for building a scalable training infrastructure that supports technicians, engineers, and project professionals across the organization.

The Training Director develops certification pathways, formalizes on-the-job training programs, and builds a structured mentor system that allows employees to advance while remaining engaged in revenue-generating field work. Success requires credibility with field technicians, the ability to build systems from the ground up, and the discipline to run training like a production function. The Training Director works closely with field mentors, operational managers, and executive leadership to ensure training initiatives align with both technical certification requirements and operational business goals.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications for the Training Director

  • Experience designing or managing structured technical training programs
  • Background working in skilled trades, utilities, electrical services, industrial services, or similar environments
  • Demonstrated ability to build on-the-job training frameworks that balance development with operational utilization
  • Strong adult learning fundamentals, including structured assessment and coaching
  • Proven ability to manage programs using clear metrics, accountability structures, and escalation paths
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with field supervisors, mentors, and operational leaders

Preferred Qualifications for the Training Director

  • Familiarity with NETA certification standards or similar technical certification frameworks
  • Experience working in field service, construction, or project-based environments
  • Track record of building training programs from scratch
  • Experience partnering with senior leadership or executive teams on workforce development strategy

The recruiting process includes a combination of preliminary phone screens and interviews, candidate assessments, reference checks, and a pre-employment background check and drug test. The process, which is being facilitated through EctoHR, Inc. is designed to ensure that candidates are aligned with Team UIS’s mission and vision.
