Vale Group, a nationwide specialized recruitment firm, has partnered with a company based in Winchester, VA, who is actively searching for an experienced Automotive Controller to work onsite for an opportunity paying up to $160,000 annually, based on experience. This leadership role oversees accounting operations for approximately 3–4 dealership locations and is responsible for driving financial accuracy, strengthening internal controls, and supporting executive decision-making. The position requires a seasoned dealership accounting professional capable of managing multi-store reporting, developing accounting teams, and improving overall financial performance.

Requirements of the Automotive Controller:

● Prior experience managing accounting functions within a multi-rooftop automotive dealership environment

● Minimum of 2+ years in an Automotive Controller role or 4+ years as an Assistant Controller within dealership operations

● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred

● Strong understanding of dealership financial statements, compliance expectations, and internal control practices

● Advanced Excel skills with the ability to perform financial analysis and reporting

● Proven experience monitoring expenses and identifying opportunities to improve dealership profitability

● Strong leadership, communication, and organizational capabilities

● Experience utilizing dealership management systems and automotive accounting platforms preferred


Responsibilities of the Automotive Controller:

● Oversee accounting operations and financial reporting across multiple dealership locations

● Produce timely and accurate financial statements for executive and operational leadership review

● Analyze revenue trends and cost drivers to identify risks and improvement opportunities

● Supervise general ledger activity including bank reconciliations, manufacturer receivables/payables, reserves, and floor plan accounts

● Recruit, mentor, and manage accounting personnel across assigned locations

● Implement and maintain strong internal control processes to support compliance and audit readiness

● Monitor closing cycles to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to reporting timelines

● Support additional financial initiatives and administrative projects as required

● Support as needed
