Job Title: Jr Post Production Assistant

Location: Los Angeles, CA 90013 (DTLA Arts District) Onsite ( *Local candidates only)

Pay Rate: $25/hour

Duration: Ongoing Contract (Strong potential to convert to Full-Time)

Schedule: Part-Time (Approximately 20–25hours per week)

9:00 AM – 4:00/5:00 PM  (Monday & Wednesday plus Tuesday or Thursday

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented Post Production Assistant to support a growing post production team responsible for podcasts, video content, digital media, and streaming deliverables.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their post production career who is looking to gain hands-on experience while working alongside experienced editors and producers. The ideal candidate enjoys staying organized, solving problems, learning new workflows, and supporting multiple productions in a fast-paced creative environment. This position is much more than administrative support—you'll actively assist with editing workflows, media management, deliverables, graphics, and production operations while receiving mentorship and training from senior editors.

There is strong long-term potential for this role to convert into a full-time opportunity.

 


Key Responsibilities

Post Production Support

  • Transcode video files into multiple formats using Adobe Media Encoder.
  • Prepare and package video deliverables for streaming, digital, and broadcast platforms.
  • Perform quality control (QC) on deliverables to ensure technical accuracy before distribution.
  • Organize and maintain digital assets using proper file organization, naming conventions, and folder structures.
  • Manage multiple versions of video files across different platforms and formats.
  • Assist with media management and overall post production workflow.
  • Troubleshoot basic post production issues and assist with workflow improvements.

Editorial Support

  • Assist editors with basic video editing projects in Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Remove advertisements, make basic timeline edits, trim footage, and prepare deliverables.
  • Support editors with revisions and project updates.
  • Assist with minor motion graphics updates when needed.
  • Learn new editing techniques and production workflows through ongoing mentorship.

Graphics & Creative Support

  • Update and resize graphics using Adobe Photoshop.
  • Create alternate versions of artwork for different social media and streaming platforms.
  • Maintain branding consistency across deliverables.
  • Make simple graphic adjustments as requested by producers and editors.

Captioning & Deliverables

  • Create and edit captions and subtitle files.
  • Generate and modify SRT files.
  • Create burned-in captions when required.
  • Ensure captions meet timing and formatting standards.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Lead Post Production Editor, producers, editors, and creative teams.
  • Assist multiple productions simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Support additional post production projects as business needs evolve.
  • Communicate effectively regarding project status and workflow priorities.


Required Qualifications

  • 1–5 years of experience in Post Production, Assistant Editing, Video Editing, Media Production, or Digital Content Production.
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe Premiere Pro (Required).
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop (Required).
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Media Encoder, including codecs, containers, frame rates, bit rates, and export settings.
  • Basic understanding of video codecs, video formats, and transcoding workflows.
  • Experience organizing large volumes of digital media files using strong file management practices.
  • Experience preparing video content for digital, streaming, or broadcast delivery.
  • Experience creating or editing captions and SRT files.
  • Basic understanding of post-production workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail is must

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable learning new software, workflows, and production tools.
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and implementing revisions quickly.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work onsite 3 days per week in the DTLA Arts District office.

 


Bonus Qualifications

  • Basic experience with Adobe After Effects.
  • Experience creating or modifying motion graphics.
  • Familiarity with LucidLink file management.
  • Experience using OBS, TriCaster, or similar live production tools.
  • Experience supporting podcasts, YouTube content, streaming platforms, or digital media.
  • Experience working in entertainment, media, production, or creative environments.

Additional Information

  • Approximately 20–25 hours per week (part-time).
  • Typical schedule is Monday & Wednesday, plus either Tuesday or Thursday based on production needs.
  • Typical working hours are 9:00 AM–4:00/5:00 PM.
  • Guaranteed $200 day rate whenever scheduled, even if fewer than 8 hours are worked.
  • Parking is fully covered for onsite work (validation provided).
  • Extensive hands-on training and mentorship provided by the Lead Post Production Editor.
