Job Title: Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
Location: Burlington, NC (All Alamance Foods production facilities)
Job Summary: The Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in supporting the maintenance, reliability, and efficiency of Alamance Foods' production operations. This position is responsible for performing complex troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a wide range of high-speed food and beverage manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate is experienced in both mechanical and electrical systems, capable of working independently or in a team environment, and committed to ensuring maximum uptime and product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems.
- Conduct repairs on PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens preferred), VFDs, HMIs, sensors, motors, and electrical control systems.
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance procedures on production and utility equipment.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals to guide repair and troubleshooting.
- Accurately document maintenance activities in daily logs and CMMS system.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to resolve persistent issues and drive process improvements.
- Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and systems.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, GMP, OSHA, and Alamance Foods safety standards.
- Identify required replacement parts and maintain spare parts inventory.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior maintenance team members when needed.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in industrial electromechanical maintenance, preferably in food/beverage or high-speed packaging environments.
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC motors, drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical drive systems.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and control systems.
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
- Basic computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix or CompactLogix systems.
- Experience working with SCADA systems and industrial instrumentation.
- Previous food and beverage manufacturing experience.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Exposure to wet or humid conditions, extreme cold/heat, moving mechanical parts, and airborne particles.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally with assistance.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout shift.
- Noise level ranges from moderate to loud.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly Rate: $25-33/hr (based on shift and level).
