Position Summary

We are seeking a Controller to join our operation. The Mine provides opportunities in both mechanized and conventional hard rock mining. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified accounting professional to work on a variety of operational and financial projects, take ownership of their career, and contribute meaningfully as part of a small, high-performing team in a dynamic mining environment.


The Controller will be responsible for overseeing site-level accounting operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, supporting operational financial performance, and serving as the primary liaison between the site and Corporate Finance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations

·      Oversee and maintain site accounting systems, processes, and internal controls in alignment with corporate standards.

·      Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS and company accounting policies and procedures.

·      Lead month-end close processes, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

·      Prepare interim, monthly, and year-to-date financial statements and cost reports, including variance analysis.

·      Ensure proper transaction coding and documentation review to maintain financial accuracy and audit readiness.

Operational & Cost Accounting

·      Manage cost accounting activities related to mining operations.

·      Support capital project accounting, including tracking expenditures and transition from construction to operational phases.

·      Provide financial insight and analysis to support operational decision-making.

 

Budgeting & Financial Planning

·      Assist in the preparation and analysis of:

o  Annual budgets

o  Short-term and long-term forecasts

o  Re-forecasts

o  Life of Mine (LOM) financial models

Financial Administration

·      Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

·      Ensure proper internal controls are maintained across all financial processes.

·      Serve as the primary site accounting liaison with Corporate Finance and shared services teams.

Qualifications

Education

·      Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Experience

·      5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry.

·      Strong knowledge of GAAP and/or IFRS accounting standards.

·      Experience with operational accounting, budgeting, payroll, and AP/AR functions.

Technical Skills & Competencies

·      Experience with accounting systems such as Microsoft Great Plains, SAP, or similar ERP systems.

·      Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

·      Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·      Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional operational teams.

·      Strong attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy.
