Industrial Hygienist
Purpose & Scope of The Position:
The Industrial Hygienist is responsible for the management, implementation, and evaluation of all site Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Respiratory Protection Program, and Hearing Conservation Programs while ensuring compliance with MSHA and State regulations.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and maintain Industrial Hygiene sampling programs across the mine site.
- Maintain IH equipment and data log results.
- Maintain regulatory information and deliver advice to department leadership if changes occur which may impact operations.
- Assist with internal mentoring and training of additional personnel on testing processes.
- Perform monthly inspections in all mine site locations requiring industrial hygiene review.
- Serve as a resource on IH related topics and respond appropriately to concerns.
- Coordinate with external laboratories for sample analysis post collection.
- Ability to calculate time-weighted average exposures and determine compliance to regulatory requirements.
- Provide written reports communicating results of industrial hygiene testing processes including recommendations when changes are required.
- Assist and/or coordinate MSHA training for newly employed miners and annual refresher training.
- Assist in MSHA inspections and personal exposure monitoring conducted by any regulatory agency.
Required Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health. Equivalent related experience can be substituted for the degree requirement

Experience: A minimum of three years in an Industrial Hygiene and/or Occupational health role, preferably in the mining industry.

Licenses: Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience: Experience as a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical, including drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability to meet the required physical demands, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
