Information Technology Manager


Position Summary


The Information Technology Manager will lead and manage IT systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, communications, business applications, and end-user support for the company’s mining project and future operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for building scalable IT systems and processes to support the transition from a development-stage project into a fully operational mine. The role requires a balance of strategic planning, technical expertise, vendor management, cybersecurity oversight, ERP support, and day-to-day operational IT leadership.


Key Responsibilities


IT Leadership & Strategy

·       Develop and implement the site IT roadmap to support project development, construction, commissioning, and operations.

·       Establish IT policies, procedures, governance standards, and support processes.

·       Partner with site leadership, corporate teams, vendors, and contractors to align IT solutions with business needs.

·       Promote a culture of reliable service, cybersecurity awareness, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.

Site IT Operations & Support

·       Manage daily IT operations including user support, system administration, troubleshooting, account management, and vendor coordination.

·       Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes for employees and contractors.

·       Maintain IT documentation, asset inventories, software licensing, and support records.

·       Implement service management processes including ticketing, issue tracking, escalation, and change management.


Infrastructure, Connectivity & Communications

·       Oversee IT infrastructure including servers, networks, wireless systems, firewalls, backup systems, computers, printers, and mobile devices.

·       Manage site communications systems including internet, cellular, radio, phone, and wireless connectivity.

·       Support technology infrastructure for mine operations, processing facilities, maintenance shops, warehouses, and remote work areas.

·       Monitor system performance, uptime, reliability, and network health.


Cybersecurity & Disaster Recovery

·       Manage cybersecurity practices including endpoint protection, firewalls, access controls, MFA, software updates, and user awareness training.

·       Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

·       Ensure backup systems, recovery procedures, and incident response protocols are documented and tested.

·       Monitor and mitigate cybersecurity risks associated with remote access, cloud systems, vendors, and operational technology.


ERP & Business Systems

·       Support implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of ERP and business systems.

·       Assist with user setup, permissions, troubleshooting, reporting tools, workflows, and training.

·       Work closely with finance, supply chain, HR, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure systems meet operational requirements.

·       Manage software subscriptions, licenses, renewals, and compliance.


Operational Technology & Mine Readiness

·       Support implementation of operational technology systems including fleet management, dispatch, radio systems, maintenance systems, access control, and process monitoring.

·       Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and construction teams to support operational readiness.

·       Ensure systems are reliable, scalable, and capable of supporting future mining operations.


Vendor & Asset Management

·       Manage relationships with IT vendors, consultants, telecommunications providers, and software suppliers.

·       Oversee procurement, deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle management of IT hardware and software.

·       Monitor vendor performance, service quality, cybersecurity expectations, and contract compliance.


Budgeting & Continuous Improvement

·       Develop and manage annual IT operating and capital budgets.

·       Track IT expenditures, forecasts, subscriptions, and capital planning requirements.

·       Identify opportunities to improve reliability, cybersecurity, service quality, scalability, and cost efficiency.

·       Prepare regular reporting on IT performance, cybersecurity, uptime, support metrics, and project status.


Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related field preferred.

·       Equivalent combinations of education and directly relevant experience will be considered.

·       Minimum 10 years of progressive IT experience.

·       Experience supporting mining, construction, industrial, manufacturing, or other capital-intensive operations preferred.

·       ERP implementation or administration experience strongly preferred (SAP, Dynamics 365, Ellipse, JDE, Oracle, or similar).

·       Experience supporting remote sites, field connectivity, industrial communications, or operational technology systems preferred.

·       Strong experience with vendor management, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and IT infrastructure.


Technical Skills & Certifications

·       Strong knowledge of Windows infrastructure, Microsoft 365, networking, wireless systems, firewalls, backups, endpoint management, and cybersecurity tools.

·       Experience with IT service management, ticketing systems, change management, and incident response.

·       Familiarity with industrial or mine-site systems such as fleet management, radio systems, GIS, maintenance systems, and process monitoring is an asset.


Preferred certifications include:

·       ITIL Foundation

·       Microsoft or Azure Certifications

·       Cisco or Network+ Certifications

·       Security+, CISSP, or CISM Certifications

·       ERP or Project Management Certifications


Leadership & Competencies

·       Hands-on, service-oriented IT leader capable of operating in a lean and evolving environment.

·       Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

·       Excellent organizational, vendor management, and problem-solving skills.

·       Ability to balance day-to-day operational support with long-term system development and strategic planning.

·       High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity when handling company systems and confidential information.

Success will be measured by the implementation of scalable and reliable IT systems, strong cybersecurity and operational readiness, effective ERP and business system support, high-quality end-user service, and the development of an IT function that supports safe, efficient, and sustainable mining operations.
