General Manager


Position Summary


The General Manager will lead the transition of the company’s project from development stage into construction, commissioning, and full mining operations. This senior leadership role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible management of all site activities, including mining, processing, maintenance, technical services, HSE, contractor management, budgeting, workforce development, and stakeholder engagement.

The successful candidate will provide visible, hands-on leadership while building the systems, teams, and operational culture required for a high-performing open-pit heap leach mining operation.


Key Responsibilities


Site Leadership & Operations

·       Lead all site functions including mining, processing, maintenance, technical services, HSE, environmental, supply chain, and administration.

·       Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with business objectives and life-of-mine plans.

·       Drive operational readiness, construction readiness, commissioning, and ramp-up activities.

·       Establish clear accountability, communication routines, and performance expectations across site leadership teams.


Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance

·       Champion a strong safety culture focused on zero harm and proactive risk management.

·       Ensure compliance with all environmental, permitting, MSHA, and regulatory requirements.

·       Support permitting activities, water management, reclamation planning, and environmental stewardship initiatives.

·       Lead incident investigations, audits, inspections, and corrective actions.


Operational & Financial Performance

·       Oversee safe and efficient open-pit mining, heap leach, ADR, and processing operations.

·       Manage site operating and capital budgets, forecasts, cost control, and performance reporting.

·       Monitor KPIs related to production, recovery, equipment reliability, productivity, and operating costs.

·       Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, reliability, and cost performance.


Project Development & Readiness

·       Support feasibility studies, engineering reviews, construction planning, and operational readiness programs.

·       Ensure systems, staffing, training, maintenance strategies, and operating procedures are established ahead of production.

·       Coordinate closely with corporate leadership, contractors, consultants, and project teams during development and construction phases.


Leadership & Workforce Development

·       Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing site leadership team.

·       Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

·       Support succession planning, employee development, and workforce capability growth.

·       Maintain effective communication across all levels of the organization.


Stakeholder & Contractor Management

·       Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, regulators, government agencies, and local communities.

·       Ensure contractor performance meets safety, quality, schedule, and cost expectations.

·       Serve as a key representative of the company with external stakeholders and community partners.


Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or related discipline required.

·       MBA or advanced professional certification preferred.

·       Minimum 15 years of progressive mining industry experience.

·       Minimum 5 years in a senior site leadership or operations management role.

·       Direct open-pit mining experience required.

·       Heap leach, oxide gold, ADR, or run-of-mine processing experience strongly preferred.

·       Experience transitioning mining projects from development into operations highly preferred.

·       Strong understanding of safety, environmental compliance, maintenance, mine operations, budgeting, and contractor management.

·       Experience with MSHA-regulated operations preferred.
