Who we are

The BC Aboriginal Child Care Society (BCACCS) is a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous early learning and child care (ELCC). BCACCS undertakes research, develops training, and resources, and provides services and leadership to support Indigenous communities throughout BC to create high quality, culturally respectful, spiritually enriching community child care services that are based in the child’s culture, language, and history.

 

The work this role carries

BCACCS is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of IELCC Community Funding Project Manager who reports to the IELCC Program Steward (Manager).

 

The IELCC Community Funding Project Manager plays an important role in supporting the Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care (IELCC) Transformation Initiative by stewarding the coordination, administration, and ongoing strengthening of funding program operations. This role supports project planning, oversees funding workflows, and maintains clear and respectful documentation practices, while working closely with the staff, contractors, and leadership of BCACCS to ensure funding programs are delivered with care, accountability, and cultural integrity.

 

The IELCC Community Funding Project Manager works alongside the IELCC Program Steward and IELCC Coordinators to steer workflow processes, program evaluation, and continuous learning, helping ensure the IELCC funding initiative remains responsive to community needs, aligns with organizational values and standards, and fulfills all contribution agreement requirements.

 

The role and how you will contribute

In the role of IELCC Community Funding Project Manager, your key contributions will include:


Program Coordination and Operational Support

  • Provide purposeful guidance, clarification, and follow‑up to ensure project deliverables and roles are clear, timelines are understood, and others are kept aware throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with Coordinators to roll out funding policies, program guidance, and strategic direction by coordinating timelines, contributing to the creation of key tools, and tracking targets, outcomes, and milestones to ensure timely progress and alignment.

·      Share regular updates and reflections with leadership to support transparency, alignment, and informed decision-making.

·      Provide administrative oversight to ensure timesheets, travel claims, and expense claims are prepared and processed with accuracy and accountability.

·      Support the oversight of contractor deliverables, invoicing, reporting requirements, and funding-related documentation with care and accountability.

 

Documentation, Information Care & Communications

  • Maintain strategic, guiding documents, such as updating the evergreen annual operating plan with quarterly actuals and projections, to ensure alignment with contribution agreement deliverables and achievement of program goals.
  • Lead drafting and coordination of funder reports to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with funding agreement deliverables and strategic goals.
  • Prepare briefing notes, reports, summaries, and presentations as needed.
  • Collect and synthesize program findings, trends, and community feedback, ensuring information is well organized, aligned with existing tools, and readily shareable.

·      Maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized records in alignment with BCACCS standards, particularly for funding policy decisions and funding development workflows.

·      Support consistent digital file management practices and effectively use databases and digital filing systems to maintain organizational knowledge, confidentiality, cultural safety, accountability, and continuity.

 

Project Management & Quality of Work

·      Support project planning and implementation, ensuring timelines, milestones, and deliverables are carried forward with care and accountability.

·      Monitor emerging risks, challenges, or delays, and respond in a grounded, solution-focused way.

·      Engage in ongoing reflection and review to understand what is working well and where improvements may be needed.

·      Strengthen program processes, tools, communication, and workflows to support continuous learning and improvement for communities and organizational goals.

·      Review existing manuals, flowcharts, and tools, offering reflections and recommendations to strengthen clarity and effectiveness.

  • Maintain awareness of organizational policies and sector developments, particularly within Indigenous ELCC.

 

What you bring: Experience, Knowledge, and Ways of Being

  • One or both of the following:
  • A degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Project Management, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive project management experience, including coordinating complex, multi-component projects under tight timelines, ideally within Indigenous, community-based, early learning, or values-driven environments
  • An equivalent combination of the above education, training, and lived or professional experience
  • Exceptional ability to manage and clearly track many moving parts—applications, decisions, reporting, documentation, contractor deliverables, and policy updates—with care, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Excellence in translating contract deliverables into clear, actionable tasks and organizing them within structured tracking tools.
  • Strong understanding of, or a willingness to learn about, Indigenous governance, community protocols, cultural safety practices, and respectful ways of working alongside First Nations and Indigenous organizations.
  • Excellence in managing digital workflows, shared information systems, and organized documentation practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and collaboration tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).

 

Additional gifts and strengths you may bring

  • Demonstrated interest in or experience with the ELCC sector.

·      Experience working with First Nations, Indigenous organizations, or Indigenous-led initiatives.

·      Experience working within not-for-profit, community-based, or values-driven organizations.

  • Lived experience as an Indigenous person and/or strong connection to Indigenous communities in BC.
  • Experience working in not-for-profit, community-based, or values-driven organizations.


How the role is practiced day-to-day

  • Primarily remote (from a secure and private home office in BC) with the ability to attend occasional meetings or gatherings as needed (primarily in Metro Vancouver).
  • Follows standard working hours of Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional extended hours.
  • Holds a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle, with the ability to travel as needed.
  • Carries out the role in alignment with BCACCS’ Code of Conduct, and is willing to complete a criminal record check to support a safe and trusted workplace.
