Job Title: Director of Nursing

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing to lead our nursing department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of patient care, ensuring high standards of nursing practice, and leading a team of nurses to provide exceptional care to patients. The Director of Nursing will work closely with other healthcare professionals to foster a collaborative, effective, and supportive care environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management:
  • Lead, manage, and supervise the nursing team to ensure high-quality patient care is provided.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Oversee nursing staff recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and retention.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules, ensuring adequate coverage at all times.
  • Mentor and support nursing staff in clinical skills, professional development, and career growth.
  • Clinical Oversight & Care Management:
  • Ensure that patient care is delivered in accordance with established care plans, protocols, and clinical standards.
  • Review patient outcomes and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Act as a clinical resource for nursing staff, providing guidance on complex patient care issues.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure all nursing activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of the nursing department through audits, patient satisfaction surveys, and incident reports.
  • Implement and oversee safety protocols, infection control measures, and other patient safety practices.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with physicians, healthcare providers, and administration to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care.
  • Facilitate effective communication between nursing staff, patients, and families to ensure optimal care delivery.
  • Represent the nursing department in meetings and committees, advocating for improvements in patient care and nursing practice.
  • Budgeting & Resource Management:
  • Assist in developing and managing the nursing department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Oversee the ordering and management of nursing supplies and equipment.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required. Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Experience in [specific healthcare setting, such as home care, hospital, long-term care, etc.] preferred.
  • Licensing:
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State].
  • Skills:
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
