Compensation: $90,000 – $120,000 base salary + ~$16,000 vehicle/fuel allowance + 9%–13% target bonus
Are you a skilled structural engineer looking to put your expertise to work out in the field instead of behind a desk?
Our client, a growing and well-respected structural engineering firm, is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support field operations, technical assessments, and client projects throughout the region. This is a senior-level role ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex structural challenges on-site—particularly involving parking garages and other concrete structures.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform on-site structural assessments and inspections, with a focus on parking structures, concrete systems, and related assets.
- Identify and diagnose structural issues using both standard and advanced techniques.
- Gather detailed conditions data and assist in developing practical repair recommendations and design solutions.
- Independently manage field visits and engineering evaluations while working in a self-directed environment.
- Serve as a technical advisor to both clients and internal project teams, especially on complex or nuanced assignments.
- Conduct regional travel to project sites as needed (no overnight travel required).
What We're Looking For:
- Professional Engineer (PE) License: Active in at least one U.S. state, with ability to obtain additional licenses via reciprocity as needed.
- Experience: At least 5–7 years in structural engineering roles, emphasizing inspections, assessments, and structural diagnostics.
- Technical Knowledge: Expertise with concrete structures, load-bearing systems, and structural deterioration. Experience in failure diagnosis is strongly preferred.
- Independent Worker: Comfortable managing your responsibilities solo, including field schedules, evaluations, and communications.
- Core Traits: Problem-solver with grit, adaptability, collaborative mindset, and excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background or coursework in concrete technology or material science.
- Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) equipment such as GPR (ground-penetrating radar).
- Prior work in agile, consulting-focused engineering environments is a plus.
What’s in It for You:
- Base Salary: $90,000 – $120,000 annually
- Vehicle & Fuel Allowance: Approximately $16,000 per year
- Performance Bonus: Targeted at 9% of base salary, with potential to earn up to 13% based on results
- Benefits: Access to a comprehensive benefits package through our client, including health, dental, vision, and retirement savings
This is an outstanding opportunity for a Philadelphia-area structural engineer seeking a dynamic field-based role. If you enjoy tackling real-world structural challenges, working independently, and being part of a growing and technical team, we’d love to speak with you.
