IT PMO – Digital Portfolio Lead

Location: Dallas, TX (Onsite – strong local presence required onsite 3-4 days a week) - Uptown/Victory Park area


Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT PMO Digital Portfolio Lead to own and drive a portfolio of enterprise digital initiatives. This role goes beyond coordination—you will actively lead portfolio governance, prioritization, and execution to ensure digital investments deliver measurable business value. This position works closely with executive stakeholders and cross‑functional leaders, requiring a strong onsite presence in Dallas to support governance forums, executive engagement, and enterprise collaboration.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and govern a portfolio of enterprise digital initiatives, including transformation, modernization, automation, analytics, and platform enablement.
  • Partner with IT Business Partners and Service Owners to define, prioritize, and maintain digital portfolio roadmaps aligned to enterprise strategy and value drivers.
  • Facilitate digital governance forums and steering committees to enable timely approvals, resolve escalations, and manage trade‑off decisions across competing initiatives.
  • Oversee portfolio financial performance, including capital planning, forecasting, and fiscal accountability, in collaboration with Finance and Procurement.
  • Monitor delivery health across the portfolio (cost, schedule, scope) and provide executive‑level reporting on status, trends, risks, and performance.
  • Track and validate benefit realization to ensure approved digital outcomes translate into measurable business value.
  • Identify and manage portfolio‑level risks and interdependencies, resolving cross‑initiative conflicts and delivery constraints.
  • Lead portfolio resource planning and capacity management, partnering with delivery leaders to ensure initiatives are adequately staffed.
  • Support and mentor program and project managers, removing barriers and ensuring alignment with portfolio priorities and governance standards.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise standards, including security, regulatory, architectural, and financial controls.
  • Provide people leadership to a team of program and project managers supporting digital transformation initiatives.

Required Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in IT environments (agile, hybrid, or waterfall).
  • 5+ years of experience leading IT, digital, or technology portfolios, programs, or large enterprise initiatives.
  • Proven experience driving digital initiatives beyond traditional infrastructure or maintenance work.
  • Strong executive‑level communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing multi‑million‑dollar digital project and portfolio budgets.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.

Required Skills

  • Deep expertise in digital portfolio governance, investment prioritization, and value realization.
  • Strong financial acumen, including capital planning, forecasting, and working closely with Finance and executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to deliver clear, actionable portfolio insights to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Proven leadership across cross‑functional teams and vendor partners.
  • Strong capability in risk management, dependency coordination, and escalation resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Portfolio or program management certifications (PMP, PgMP, SAFe, or similar).
  • Experience leading digital transformation initiatives such as analytics, automation, cloud adoption, and platform modernization.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with leaders across Operations, Finance, Commercial, and Corporate functions.
  • Strong background in benefits realization and portfolio governance methodologies.
