Job Title: Director of Community Outreach – Mississippi (MS)

Department: Program Delivery

Reports To: Chief Operations Officer

Location: Tupelo, Mississippi - Tupelo Service Center

FLSA Status: Regular Full-time/Exempt

Position Summary:

The Director of Community Outreach (DCO) is responsible for the strategic development and design of our client’s community outreach programs with the goal of delivering the appropriate programming and increasing girl membership and the nonprofit’s presence throughout the Mississippi portion of our council. The DCO oversees outreach program delivery, supervises community outreach staff, and evaluates outreach program effectiveness.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·        With the support of the COO create an annual needs-based, data driven comprehensive outreach and recruitment plan with measurable goals.

·        Design, develop and implement innovative plans for community troop program delivery.

·        Supervise Mississippi Community Outreach Specialist(s).

·        Supports program and fund development teams via basic grant management and reporting.

·        Create community awareness and organizational visibility through community involvement and engagement.

·        Develop and modify outcomes-based outreach curriculum as needed.

·        Establishes contact and develops collaborative relationships with key leaders, parents, and school officials to expand the program in areas where we are not present.

·        Facilitate and coordinate weekly or monthly programs at schools, churches, or community centers for the purpose of increasing membership and developing girl leadership.

·        Initiate community partnerships that extend the mission, vision, and membership of organization.

·        Participates in program and membership planning processes to assist in the development of council goals, objectives, and action steps related to the program function.

·        Maintains the necessary records and reports of programs, events, and activities for monthly management and yearly analysis.

·        Submits accurate reports and information requested in a timely manner to all departments.

·        Assist in program implementation on the council level as needed.

·        Performs other duties as assigned.

·        Travel throughout council jurisdiction up to 20% of the time and willingness to travel outside of council jurisdiction as job requires.

·        Must provide own transportation and maintain a valid driver’s license.

·        Adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures.

 

Physical Requirements:

The incumbent is in a non-confined office setting in which they are free to move about at will. The environment for this position is clean and comfortable. Work is performed in a normal indoor environment with limited exposure to outdoors. Our organization is a drug-free/smoke-free workplace. The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand:

1.     Prolonged periods sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and/or prolonged standing

2.     Operate office equipment manually.

3.     Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds without difficulty

 

Education and Experience:

·        Bachelor’s degree in education, child/youth development, and/or management

·        Minimum two years of experience in staff management, project management, curriculum development, and program planning and implementation

·        Experience in experiential education and/or community organizing a plus

·        Experience with customer service management systems (CRM) such as Salesforce a plus
