CLIENT SUMMARY

HPM is a national capital program management firm that partners with owners to lead complex capital improvement programs from early planning through execution. Founded in 1997 as a division of Hoar Construction, HPM serves as the owner’s advocate—providing leadership, oversight, and advisory services that reduce risk, control cost, and create predictable outcomes.

While the firm has expanded geographically and across industries, HPM has remained deeply relationship-driven and family-oriented, with a strong emphasis on integrity, stewardship, and long-term partnerships. As the company continues to grow, HPM is investing in new internal capabilities that allow it to support clients earlier and more strategically in the capital program lifecycle.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

HPM is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead market growth, client relationship development, and strategic pursuits across Georgia. This senior leadership role is responsible for expanding HPM’s presence with targeted owners, strengthening long-term client partnerships, and aligning growth initiatives with HPM’s service offerings and values.

In Georgia, this Director of Business Development will place an emphasis on market expansion, new client acquisition, and strategic entry into targeted sectors and geographies. This includes building brand presence, developing new owner relationships, and partnering closely with operations and program leadership to support growth in a more competitive and rapidly expanding market.

This role is not a transactional sales position. Success will be measured by the ability to build trust-based relationships, understand owner needs, and connect those needs to HPM’s advisory-led approach to capital program delivery.

POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on HPM’s brand, values, and service approach with owners, partners, and industry influencers
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers and strategic partners across assigned markets
  • Drive new client acquisition while deepening and expanding relationships with existing HPM clients
  • Position HPM earlier in the owner decision-making process through consultative, advisory-oriented conversations
  • Partner closely with program development, operations, and executive leadership to align pursuits with client needs and firm strategy
  • Lead or support pursuit strategy, including go/no-go decisions, positioning, and interview preparation
  • Track and manage business development activity, including pipeline health and market intelligence
  • Represent HPM in industry organizations, conferences, and networking environments
  • Collaborate with other business development and operational leaders across the firm

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus

• 10+ years of business development experience; client relationship, or related leadership experience in construction, real estate, capital programs, or professional services

• Proven success developing and sustaining senior-level client relationships

• Experience supporting complex pursuits, long-term programs, or advisory-led services

• Strong understanding of large capital improvement projects, owner decision-making, and market dynamics

• Demonstrated ability to think strategically while executing tactically

• Excellent communication, listening, and relationship-building skills

• High integrity, professionalism, and alignment with HPM’s people-first culture

• Comfort operating across multiple markets and travel as needed
