Position Summary:
As Controller, you will oversee and optimize the full scope of our accounting function—including AR, AP, payroll, tax compliance, and inventory reconciliation. You will report directly to the CFO/Head of Finance and act as a strategic thought partner, building scalable systems and processes to support our growth. This is a hands-on role for a proactive, detail-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, sales/use tax, and payroll
- Own and manage all aspects of month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations, financial reporting, and analysis
- Oversee restaurant-level inventory accounting and collaborate with operations/supply chain to improve accuracy and cost controls
- Design, evaluate, and improve internal financial controls, systems, and processes to support a scaling business
- Produce timely, accurate financial statements and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders
- Drive and support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in partnership with leadership
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis to inform decision-making across departments
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant tax or regulatory requirements
- Manage and mentor a small but growing accounting team
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in multi-unit restaurant, retail, or CPG environments
- Strong understanding of GAAP and experience managing full-cycle accounting
- Experience with inventory accounting and cost control preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, implement systems, and drive process improvement
- Highly organized with excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Restaurant365, or similar) and Excel
- Comfortable in a dynamic, high-growth environment with shifting priorities
