Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Manager of Technical Accounting to join our growing finance team. This individual will serve as the go-to expert on complex accounting issues, oversee the implementation of new accounting standards, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies. This role is ideal for a CPA with strong public accounting experience and a passion for solving technical problems and translating guidance into practical application.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, interpret, and document complex accounting issues in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Draft technical accounting memos and position papers for internal and external stakeholders
- Lead implementation of new accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 326)
- Partner with cross-functional teams (legal, operations, FP&A) on deal structuring and new business initiatives
- Provide technical accounting guidance for M&A activity, equity transactions, and other non-routine events
- Support external reporting, including 10-K, 10-Q, and other SEC filings as applicable
- Assist with audit requests and act as a key liaison with external auditors
- Maintain and update corporate accounting policies and internal controls related to technical areas
- Mentor junior team members and promote knowledge sharing within the accounting group
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 preferred)
- Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting standards
- Strong technical knowledge of areas like revenue recognition, lease accounting, and financial instruments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to distill complex issues
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in a public company or fast-paced corporate environment a plus
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and financial reporting tools
- Exposure to IPO readiness, M&A due diligence, or system implementations
Salary: $110,000-$150,000 plus bonus
