Position Summary:
The Controller is a senior finance leader responsible for overseeing all accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information. This role manages the month-end and year-end close, establishes and maintains internal controls, ensures compliance with accounting standards, and supports organizational goals with timely and reliable reporting. The Controller also plays a key role in implementing best practices, driving process improvements, and mentoring the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including general accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Manage the close process and prepare accurate and timely financial statements.
- Serve as primary contact for external auditors and lead annual audit processes.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls, policies, and financial procedures.
- Oversee reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Support reporting and presentations for leadership and other stakeholders.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and growth.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and ensure alignment with business initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA strongly preferred.
- 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting operations.
- Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and drive process improvements.
Salary Range: $165k - $185k
