Our client, a prestigious and forward-thinking law firm specializing in international trade and customs law. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Trade Specialist to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our legal professionals and provide specialized trade expertise to our diverse client base.


Job Summary:

As a Trade Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our legal team by providing trade-related expertise, ensuring compliance with international trade laws and regulations, and assisting in the management of trade matters for our clients. Your in-depth knowledge of trade regulations, customs compliance, and import/export procedures will be essential in delivering high-quality legal services to our clients.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Compliance and Regulatory Analysis: Stay abreast of changes in international trade laws, regulations, and sanctions and provide insights on their implications for clients.
  2. Documentation Management: Review and manage import and export documentation, including customs declarations, licenses, permits, and certificates of origin, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  3. Classification and Valuation: Accurately classify products based on the Harmonized System (HS) codes and determine customs valuation for reporting purposes.
  4. Risk Assessment: Identify and assess trade-related risks and work collaboratively with attorneys to develop strategies for risk mitigation.
  5. Trade Remedies: Assist in investigations related to trade remedies such as anti-dumping and countervailing duties and support clients in responding to trade remedy actions.
  6. Customs Compliance: Collaborate with customs brokers and government agencies to facilitate smooth customs clearance and compliance with import and export regulations.
  7. Client Support: Provide trade-related guidance and support to clients, including advising on trade compliance strategies, trade agreements, and import/export controls.
  8. Auditing and Due Diligence: Conduct trade compliance audits and due diligence reviews to ensure clients' adherence to trade laws and regulations.
  9. Research and Analysis: Conduct research on trade issues, prepare legal memoranda, and provide expert opinions on trade matters.
  10. Training: Develop and deliver trade compliance training programs for clients and internal teams.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Trade, or a related field. Master's degree or certification in trade compliance is preferred.
  • Minimum of ] years of experience as a Trade Specialist or in a similar role, with a strong background in international trade and customs compliance.
  • Profound knowledge of international trade laws, customs regulations, and trade remedies.
  • Familiarity with trade compliance software and tools.
  • Exceptional analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a legal team.
  • Prior experience in a law firm specializing in international trade is highly desirable.
