Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Engineer

Location: Boston, MA

We are seeking an experienced Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Engineer to lead digital construction initiatives, enhance project coordination, and optimize workflows using Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. This role is essential in managing BIM processes, ensuring quality control, and supporting both field and office teams to drive efficiency in project planning, scheduling, and execution.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in BIM management, consulting, and implementation across multiple projects, with experience collaborating with subcontractors, consultants, and construction teams to solve complex design and construction challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• 3D Modeling & Visualization – Develop 2D drawings and 3D models for preconstruction, construction, marketing, and business development purposes.
• BIM Model Coordination – Collect and manage digital models from project teams, conduct clash detection, and maintain issue tracking logs.
• Construction Logistics Support – Collaborate with project managers and site teams to incorporate constructability and construction methodologies into BIM models.
• BIM Implementation & Onsite Support – Provide hands-on BIM production and management support throughout project lifecycles, ensuring seamless integration between field and office teams.
• Quality Control & Compliance – Conduct BIM model reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to project standards.
• Training & Consulting – Support teams with BIM training and integration, sharing technical expertise to optimize workflows.
• Process Development & Standardization – Establish BIM standards, templates, and best practices to enhance company-wide adoption and efficiency.
• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration – Work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to align BIM models with project objectives and troubleshoot coordination challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-10 years of experience in VDC/BIM roles within the AEC industry.
• Proficiency in industry-standard BIM software, including Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, Dynamo, Tekla, Faro Scene, ReCap, and MWF.
• Strong understanding of construction detailing, sequencing, and methodologies.
• Experience in BIM coordination, workflow development, and process automation.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across teams and manage client relationships.
• Ability to train and mentor colleagues in BIM best practices.



This is a hybrid role, requiring time both onsite with project teams and in-office with design teams to ensure effective collaboration and execution.
