Job Summary:
We are looking for a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team. As a certified healthcare professional, you will be responsible for providing diagnostic patient care services through ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. You will use your clinical knowledge, ARDMS or ARRT (US) registration, and expertise to perform procedures within your scope of practice, ensuring optimal patient care and accurate results.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare for ultrasound examinations by checking equipment, replenishing supplies, reviewing physician orders, and entering patient information.
- Adjust and program the scanner to capture images from various angles, ensuring accuracy in imaging.
- Use sonographic skills to record and adapt procedures to provide accurate diagnostic information.
- Exercise independent judgment during exams to distinguish between normal and abnormal findings.
- Ensure patient safety and well-being while explaining procedures and addressing concerns.
- Select and capture the best images to assist the physician in diagnosis.
- Keep up-to-date with job-related knowledge through continuing education and professional networking.
- Utilize the electronic health records system with precision and submit patient charges as necessary.
- Perform IV insertion for contrast studies and manage patient scheduling and authorizations.
Education/Certifications/Licenses:
- Associate’s Degree in Applied Science.
- RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) certification or equivalent.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience as a Sonographer.
- RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) credentials preferred, or willingness to train if necessary.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of and adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
- Strong physical, sensory, and cognitive abilities to perform essential tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in operating sonographic equipment.
- Ability to use independent judgment to obtain optimal diagnostic information.
- Knowledge of safety and infection control protocols.
Physical, Mental Demands/Working Environment:
- Requires heavy physical work, including exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Possible exposure to radiation, contaminated needles, and infectious substances.
- Ability to work 8-12 hour shifts.
