Registered Nurse - Immediate Care

Compensation: $48 – $58 per hour
Operating under the supervision of nursing management, the Immediate Care (IC) Registered Nurse works within a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional urgent and immediate patient care. This role is responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, treatment planning, executing provider orders, and reporting critical clinical data in alignment with the California Nurse Practice Act.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and assess patients to establish an individualized plan of care and intervene per nursing scope of practice
- Escalate complex clinical concerns and critical patient changes to the Provider immediately
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support seamless continuity of care and the delivery of high-quality patient services
- Administer medications safely in strict accordance with clinical scope and departmental policies
- Perform electrocardiograms (ECGs) and specialized point-of-care testing as ordered by the Provider
- Execute skilled treatments including wound care, dressing applications, suture application/removal, and splinting
- Assist Providers with both invasive and non-invasive medical procedures as required
- Document all patient assessments, interventions, and interactions completely and accurately within the electronic health record (EHR)
- Participate in daily quality control activities including refrigerator temperature logs, POC testing calibration, and glucometer checks
- Respond to all emergency codes rapidly and efficiently to ensure immediate clinical intervention
- Manage laboratory tasks including blood draws, specimen processing via CBC and Piccolo machines, and prompt reporting of results to Providers
- Serve as an organizational ambassador by practicing active listening, using clear language free of medical jargon, and maintaining accountability for all tasks
- Maintain a positive, professional workspace by avoiding gossip, supporting colleagues, and remaining sensitive to diverse patient backgrounds, social cues, and cultures
Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing preferred)
- Current, valid California Registered Nurse (RN) License required
- Minimum of 2 years of professional nursing experience required (1 year of experience may be substituted with a BSN or MSN degree)
- Prior RN experience in acute care, an emergency room, urgent care, or an immediate care setting is highly preferred
- Strong, proven proficiency with IV insertion and management skills
- Advanced clinical critical thinking, independent problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of the nursing scope of practice
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Valid California driver’s license with proof of auto insurance required
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Desk and field-balanced role involving sitting (25%), standing (45%), and walking (35%).
- Requires frequent reaching above the head (20%) and occasional lifting of equipment/supplies up to 50 lbs.
- Highly technical workspace utilizing computers, cell phones, and tablets for more than 5 hours per day
