Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administering human resource processes, policies and programs for an Essentra Components or Specialist Components location. The major areas of responsibility include recruitment and selection, employee on-boarding, performance management, employee relations, compliance and training/development. This position reports to the site HR Manager.


Typical Accountabilities

  • Works with site leadership, supervisors, and employees at all levels, and leads human resources initiatives to achieve business goals.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings 
  • Train and coach managers and employees on topics including performance management, benefits, and wellness, workplace diversity, and Essentra business policies.
  • Foster strong employee relations and maintain positive employee communication.
  • Supports employee disciplinary and termination procedures and coach managers on resolving employee issues.
  • Partner with Operations to champion the HSE programs and actively participate on Safety Committee.
  • Ensure accuracy of employee data in the HRIS system and employee files, along with HR metrics and reporting.
  • Supports the payroll process, administration, and communication for site employees.
  • Assist with HR initiatives, specials projects, and change management plans.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or business is preferred
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related experience in the human resources area, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Generalist background, with broad knowledge of employment, benefits, employee relations, communications, performance management, and training and development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  •  Have the ability to manage difficult or emotional customers in a professional and diplomatic manner.
  • Ability to identify and utilize past information and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to handle frustration in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid personal management skills to effectively manage time and prioritize workload, manages multiple tasks without close supervision, and consistently meets deadlines.
  • Strong technical skills/aptitude demonstrates proficiency in MS Office programs.

  • Must be able to travel at least 1-2 times per quarter.
  • Must be fluent in English both written and verbal.
