The Role
This is a high-impact leadership role where you'll drive the success of regional tax, accounting, and business services while inspiring and developing a talented team. This role oversees a regional Tax & Business service offering for a fee-only, independent wealth management firm. This will include accounting, tax, payroll, and business consulting services, in addition to monitoring the daily production of client deliverables and establishing department processes, procedures, and protocols. You'll also be responsible for mentoring and developing team members, encouraging an environment conducive to a client-centric approach.
Role Overview
As Regional Director, you can expect to focus on:

Team Leadership and Development: Manage, lead, and guide the Tax & Consulting Team with clear expectations, provide training, mentorship, and foster a highly interactive team environment.

Operational Oversight: Review complex individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns; oversee monthly accounting/financial statement preparation/payroll activities; and ensure compliance with Federal and State statutes.

Strategic Contribution: Develop and implement the Strategic Plan and OKRs for the Tax & Consulting Team, align departmental policies with corporate goals, and act as a catalyst for new initiatives and product development.

Client Engagement: Provide high-net-worth clients with strategic and proactive tax & business service strategies, design and monitor programs for exceptional client service, and oversee fee-only tax & business service engagements.

Resource Management: Evaluate staffing needs, manage the regional budget for the team, and assist in strategic planning and budgeting for the department.

Continuous Improvement: Facilitate communication, review new products and software, assist in integrating staff from acquisitions, and maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
Supervisory Responsibilities
You'll champion a constructive culture, leading by example to promote an environment where employees are accountable, motivated, supported in taking initiatives, and recognized for their achievements. This includes:
- Selecting, supervising, empowering, coaching, developing, and retaining a qualified team through effective hiring, performance management, and succession planning.
- You'll also align team objectives with organizational goals, set challenging goals, and provide consistent, constructive feedback.
Position Logistics
- This role will ideally be based in St. Charles but may also be located in another regional office as needed (Rockford or Lincolnshire).
- This role requires about 30% travel around the Midwest region.
What You Bring
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
- A Master’s in Taxation or other master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- An active CPA or EA designation is required.
Experience
- 10+ years of proven success in the tax and/or financial services industry, with management experience a plus. 10+ years of individual and entity tax review experience.
- Proven success in developing staff and managing a regional business.

- Competitive base salary ranging from $173k - $230k, with additional incentive opportunities.
