Role: Senior Mechatronics Engineer – Robot Platform
Location: New York, NY (Onsite — Brooklyn)
Our client is an early-stage industrial robotics company building AI-powered systems that automate mission-critical warehouse operations end-to-end.
The company is deploying robots in real-world environments today, with multiple revenue-generating systems already operating in U.S. warehouses. They take a fast, iteration-heavy approach — learning from live production data and continuously improving both hardware and software.
With strong early traction and a clear path toward scaling deployments into the hundreds, the team is focused on transforming high-performing prototypes into robust, manufacturable platforms that can operate reliably at scale.
Position Overview:
This role sits at the intersection of hardware engineering, operations, and supply chain. The Senior Mechatronics Engineer will take ownership of core components of the robot platform and drive the transition from prototype systems to scalable, production-ready designs.
You’ll work closely with deployment and operations teams to identify real-world issues, incorporate field feedback, and make critical design tradeoffs across performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability. This is a hands-on role for someone comfortable operating across mechanical, electrical, and systems-level domains in a fast-moving, early-stage environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own mechanical and electrical design for key portions of the robot platform, including component selection and system integration
- Translate field feedback and operational issues into engineering improvements that increase reliability and serviceability
- Drive the transition of R&D prototypes into scalable, manufacturable platform designs
- Define platform standards, modular architectures, and common interfaces to streamline assembly and maintenance
- Partner with suppliers and manufacturing partners to improve component quality, reduce cost, and mitigate supply chain risk
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and deployment teams to ensure system performance in real-world environments
Qualifications:
✅ You likely fit if you:
- Have experience taking hardware platforms from early-stage development to scaled production
- Bring full-stack mechatronics experience across mechanical, electrical, and systems design
- Are hands-on with prototyping, fabrication, debugging, and design for manufacturing/assembly
- Have shipped hardware into real-world environments and understand operational constraints
- Are experienced working with suppliers, CM/ODM partners, or production vendors
- Have strong intuition around failure modes, reliability, and system resilience
- Are comfortable navigating ambiguity and making tradeoffs in fast-paced environments
❌ This role is not for you if:
- Prefer narrowly scoped roles without end-to-end ownership of systems
- Are not comfortable working hands-on with hardware and field deployments
- Prefer highly structured environments with established processes and long development cycles
- Are less interested in cross-functional work spanning engineering, operations, and supply chain
What they offer:
- Base salary: $150k – $225k
- Comprehensive benefits package
- Opportunity to work on real-world deployed robotics systems with immediate impact
- High-ownership role in an early-stage company scaling rapidly toward large-scale deployment
- Exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, and global hardware operations
