Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper
Consulting / Temporary
Location: Fairfield County, CT
Schedule: On-site preferred; some flexibility for hybrid
Hours: Approximately 30–40 hours per week
Start: Immediate
Company Overview
Our client is a small, established international company seeking an experienced Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper to join its CT office. The organization has approximately 20 employees overall, with a close-knit team of five working onsite.
This is an immediate consulting need with potential for long-term permanent hire, reporting to the Dir. of Finance.
Position Overview
The Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper will work closely with the Director of Finance and support the day-to-day accounting, cash management, and financial operations of the business.
This is a hands-on position ideal for someone comfortable working in a smaller company environment where responsibilities are broad, and priorities can shift. The successful candidate should be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing transactional accounting while communicating with banks, vendors, and other third parties.
A college degree is not required. Practical accounting/bookkeeping experience and the ability to independently manage day-to-day responsibilities are more important.
Key Responsibilities
Qualifications
Schedule & Work Environment
The company would ideally like someone who can work on-site in Westport, particularly during the training and transition period, although there is some flexibility for the right candidate for more of a hybrid schedule over time. The position will not exceed 40 hours per week and could potentially average closer to 30–35 hours per week. For candidates seeking a traditional full-time schedule, the company can accommodate approximately 40 hours.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being a key contributor within a small, collaborative office rather than one person in a large accounting department. You will work directly with the Director of Finance, receive hands-on training, and take ownership of meaningful day-to-day accounting responsibilities.
While the immediate need is temporary, there is real potential for the position to become a long-term or permanent role depending on business needs and overall fit.
