Programming & Test Engineer
Dubuque, IA – Full Time
Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Dubuque, IA. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will provide assistance with Factory Automation (FA) engineering processes. Perform basic tasks using existing procedures for specific controls engineering (e.g. Electrical machine controls design; Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming; Industrial Robotics programming; Electrical and Product Test System design, PC programming) assignments. At this level, projects are of limited scope and responsibility; work plans and decisions are made within established guidelines and reviewed by supervisors and/or managers.

Duties:
- Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems.
- Implement feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions, under supervision, to provide feedback and contribute to validation of the design.
- Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
- Provide technical support to inspections of the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and the remedial works needed in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and acting as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan.
- Implement improvements and provide feedback on them. Use change management systems and protocols to provide routine support services.
- Help others get the most out of knowledge management systems by offering support and advice.
- Support others by carrying out a range of product development and engineering activities, such as analyzing client situations or interpreting data.
- Support others by carrying out a range of project management activities.
- Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
- Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience integrating testing hardware and software in a production environment.
- 3+ years of expert-level experience in controls and electrical systems.
- 2+ years of experience analyzing CAN logs to diagnose machine issues and drive troubleshooting solutions.
- 2+ years of experience with device connectivity, industrial networking, and security, including protocols such as OPC, OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, and RFID.
- Proven experience delivering new technology into production environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams at an engineering level.
- Communicate technical strategy and vision to leadership.
- Ability to think creatively and develop innovative processes and solutions to complex problems.
- Experience designing and building custom tooling and test stands.
- Electrical and/or electronic engineering background.
- Prior experience with Construction & Forestry vehicle systems.
