Job Description: Commercial / Technical Sales Manager
We’re seeking a commercially driven and technically knowledgeable Senior Technical Sales Manager to join our client’s team, focusing on the specification and supply of performance-led building materials to the residential, commercial, and industrial construction sectors. This role will suit someone who enjoys working closely with contractors, developers, engineers, and architects to advise on material choices from early-stage design right through to project delivery.
The hiring company has it’s head office in Dublin, the ideal candidate should be prepared to work from a Dublin office at least 3 days a week.
What You’ll Do:
Technical Consultation
• Provide expert advice on product specifications with an emphasis on performance, compliance, and efficiency
• Support clients in achieving compliance with building regulations and project-specific U-value requirements
• Collaborate with project stakeholders at design stage to propose value-driven solutions
• Read and interpret technical drawings, project specifications, and tender documentation
Sales & Business Development
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the construction supply chain
• Build and manage relationships with contractors, developers, architects, QS professionals, and engineers
• Attend client meetings, trade events, and site visits to promote product offerings and generate leads
• Prepare quotations and respond to tenders in collaboration with the internal team
• Drive the full sales cycle, from engagement to deal closure and post-sales follow-up
Client & Market Engagement
• Develop a strong understanding of your clients’ supply chain, project pipeline, and commercial goals
• Act as a trusted advisor, delivering both technical and commercial input throughout the project lifecycle
• Stay informed of market trends, competitor activity, and innovations in construction materials
What We’re Looking For:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a construction-related technical sales role
• Proven track record selling building materials or systems to contractors, developers, or consultants
• Strong commercial and technical acumen – you can talk U-values, compliance, and cost-efficiency
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders with confidence and credibility
• Full clean driving licence and flexibility to travel across Dublin/Leinster as required
Preferred Qualifications:
• Construction-related qualification (e.g., Construction Management, Building Services, Engineering, Architecture)
• Experience working with or selling into Tier 1–3 contractors or project consultants
• Familiarity with the design/specification stage of construction projects
