Our Client: Tactical Talent Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client, a long-established and highly regarded builders’ merchant and hardware supplier. With a reputation for exceptional service and quality products, they are experiencing growth and now require a dynamic Senior Sales Representative to join their team.
Job Purpose: This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy and successful business supplying a wide range of building materials and hardware products. Reporting to the Store Manager and joining a team of two experienced sales reps, you will spend the majority of your week on the road, building relationships with existing customers and winning new business.
This role will suit a driven, ambitious sales professional who thrives in a target-driven environment and enjoys hunting out opportunities in the construction sector.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Service and develop existing customer accounts, ensuring orders are fulfilled and service levels are consistently high.
· Proactively identify and secure new business opportunities across Wexford and Waterford.
· Conduct regular site visits to contractors, builders, and tradespeople.
· Manage quotations and follow up persistently to secure orders.
· Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, market insights, and competitor activity.
· Work closely with internal teams to ensure customer requirements are met efficiently.
Ideal Candidate
This role will suit an individual who thrives on going after new business and who relishes the challenge of winning over new customers. You will be confident walking onto a building site, introducing yourself, and speaking to the right people to uncover opportunities. With either personal or professional experience in building materials, you will have enough knowledge of the sector to hold your own in conversations with trades and contractors. First and foremost, you are a salesperson through and through.
This position will appeal to someone who enjoys being on the road, but who also values having a defined territory without the burden of a nationwide remit. You will take genuine satisfaction in building strong relationships, following up on leads, and securing new accounts. Persistence and drive are central to your personality. You do not give up easily, and you are motivated by the thrill of converting opportunities into long-term business.
Key Competencies & Skills
· 2–3 years’ sales experience, ideally within the Building Materials/Hardware sector.
· Experience with timber, insulation, plumbing, or aggregates is a strong advantage.
· Confident cold caller, comfortable visiting building sites and engaging with decision-makers.
· Persistent, self-motivated, and target-driven with a natural hunter mentality.
· Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a sales pipeline.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first approach.
· Full clean driving licence
· Proven success in business development and new account acquisition.
· Resilient, optimistic, and results-oriented.
· Ability to work independently while also contributing to a wider sales team.
· Strong reporting and follow-up skills.
Package & Benefits:
· Base salary €40,000 – €45,000 (depending on experience)
