Job Title: Purchasing Assistant

Salary: Circa €32k DOE

Reporting to: Procurement Team


Our Client

Tactical Talent Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a long-established and highly regarded wholesale and distribution business operating within the plumbing and bathroom sector.

With a strong reputation in the Irish market and continued growth across its network, our client is now seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join their West Dublin-based team.

This is a full-time, permanent position with a structured 6-month induction programme designed to support development and long-term progression.


Job Purpose

The Purchasing Assistant will support the Procurement team to ensure customer stock requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner.

This role plays a key part in maintaining supplier relationships, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of purchasing and supply chain activities.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation and processing of purchase orders and requisitions
  • Liaise with suppliers and freight forwarders to schedule deliveries
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve discrepancies
  • Track inventory levels and manage reorder points
  • Maintain accurate procurement and inventory records
  • Coordinate with internal departments and satellite depots to ensure stock availability
  • Review supplier pricing and terms to ensure cost-efficiency
  • Assist with cost analysis and cost-saving initiatives
  • Prepare procurement activity and supplier performance reports
  • Support documentation management relating to deliveries and invoices


 

The Ideal Candidate

  • 3rd level qualification in a business-related discipline or similar
  • Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement or supply chain role
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems
  • Excellent communication and negotiation ability
  • Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional, ethical and commercially aware
  • Strong problem-solving ability and proactive mindset
