Role: Senior Payroll Technician

KEY RESPONSBILILTIES
As the Senior Payroll Technician you will work safely and collaboratively and are responsible for:
Payroll Processing & Compliance:
- Process and manage payroll weekly for multiple clients within Saskatchewan on weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly schedules.
- Compile, review, and monitor statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay accounts.
- Act as a primary point of contact for assigned clients, managing relationships and addressing payroll related issues.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations, staying updated on changes in legislation and adjust payroll processes and policies as necessary.
- Collaborate with junior payroll technicians providing support and guidance to enhance their skills.
- Report to the Team Lead, ensuring effective communication on team performance and workflow management.
Client Management & Reporting:
- Act as an account manager, building effective working relationships with assigned clients across Saskatchewan, delivering high-quality professional advice and insight.
- Prepare and execute client-specific payroll reports, auditing information for completeness and take appropriate action where needed.
- Provide a customer-centric approach within the team, setting high standards for delivering exceptional customer service to ensure client satisfaction and service quality.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information and lead communication with external payroll service providers to ensure top-tier service for assigned clients.
System Expertise & Process Improvement:
- Payroll software knowledge of QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Payworks, Wagepoint, and Dayforce.
- Evaluate payroll processes and systems, implementing improvements that would enhance overall efficiency and accuracy.
QUALIFICATIONS
As the Senior Payroll Technician, you will bring:
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification an asset.
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive payroll experience in payroll processing and administration.
- Proficient user in one or multiple payroll software systems with the ability to adapt and learn new payroll software and technologies.
- Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, and internal controls.
- Experience with Canadian federal and provincial payroll regulations, tax laws and compliance requirements.
- Ability to self-organize, work independently, and prioritize a high volume of work.
- Excellent customer service orientation with creative and resourceful problem-solving skills – “can do” attitude.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Accurate, organized, and self-motivated with the ability to prioritize workload.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain sustained attention to detail with high level of accuracy.
- Resourceful and proactive in finding solutions and driving continuous improvements and efficiencies.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and use discretion.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced user knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
