The Opportunity
As the Structural Engineer you will directly influence the success of complex projects across Saskatchewan’s industrial sectors, including mining, agriculture, and heavy industries. Key Responsibilities
Structural Design & Analysis
- Prepare detailed structural design calculations, technical drawings and specifications for structural steel and concrete structures.
- Perform structural steel member designs, connection designs, monorail lifting structure designs, and other designs for industrial and commercial projects.
Project Management
- Conduct detailed reviews of construction shop drawings and respond effectively to Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Engage in site visits and inspect existing structures, providing recommendations for repairs, modifications, and additions, ensuring effective communication with project teams.
- Provide expert recommendations to clients based on thorough analysis.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients and vendors to support project success.
Leadership and Mentorship
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, providing regular feedback and technical support.
- Contribute to the development of internal standards, processes, and best practices, providing support in shaping the company’s policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities by sharing expertise, fostering a positive work environment, and assisting the growth of a high-performing, elite structural engineering team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Structural Design is considered an asset.
- Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.).
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and the willingness to travel to nearby sites as required.
- 5+ years experience with structural steel design; familiarity with concrete, wood and masonry structures is beneficial.
- Experience in Potash, Uranium, and Ag-industrial facilities, as well as Pre-Engineered building projects, will set you apart.
- Strong technical expertise in structural analysis and design, ideally with Autodesk Robot Analysis, AutoCAD, Revit, MathCAD, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Passionate about continuous improvement; assisting in the growth of the company, increasing efficiency, service and overall productivity.
- Innovative and open to new concepts, proactive and solutions oriented.
- Proven leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and develop junior engineering team members.
- Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships, provide clear project updates, and maintain trust through consistent, transparent communication.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to contribute positively within a small, growth-oriented team environment.
- Familiarity with Canadian and American design codes such as CSA S16, NBC, AISC and other technical standards.
