The Opportunity

You will play a vital role in preparing and reviewing while mentoring junior staff and building strong client relationships. The ideal candidate will have public accounting experience and be adaptable to changing demands.


Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Staff Accountant, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:


Compilation and Review Engagements

  • Prepare and review compilation engagements in accordance with professional standards.
  • Conduct review engagements, ensuring compliance with regulations and accuracy in reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, providing insights and recommendations for clients.

Tax Preparation

  • Prepare and review corporate tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Assist with personal tax preparation, providing clients with knowledgeable guidance.
  • Maintain documentation related to tax filings and client communications.

Client Interaction

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, fostering strong relationships through regular communication and support.
  • Manage correspondence with clients regarding their accounting needs and queries.
  • Be proactive in addressing client concerns and ensuring satisfaction with services provided.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Mentor junior staff, providing training and support to foster professional growth.
  • Promote a collaborative team environment, regularly checking in with colleagues and maintaining a positive atmosphere.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by providing constructive feedback and guidance.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Utilize accounting software and tools, including CaseWare, CaseView, and other office systems to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Maintain organized and accurate files to facilitate year-over-year continuity with clients.
  • Adhere to tight deadlines while managing time effectively, particularly during peak periods.

 

Qualifications

As the Senior Staff Accountant, you will bring:

  • 3-5 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on compilation and review engagements.
  • CPA designation is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Proven experience in mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong understanding of corporate and personal tax regulations.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Adaptable and open to feedback, with a willingness to learn from others.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship or limitation.
