The Opportunity

Working closely with the senior engineers you will gain exposure to full project lifecycles, supporting design, drafting and project execution. An opportunity to see projects from earl-stage design through to construction, you’ll be engaged in each step of the process. As you see your work take shape in the real world, you will see the impact you make on local communities across the province. You will build confidence, as you provide support to both the technical design and project coordination on a wide range of municipal infrastructure projects and systems. With hands-on mentorship from experienced engineers you will not only develop but enhance the practical skills and professional knowledge you need to grow your career in civil engineering.

 


Key Responsibilities

As the Design Engineer, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

1. Design Execution

  • Prepare, analyze, and validate technical engineering designs and construction drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Assist with calculations and specifications for accuracy and constructability.
  • Ensure design work aligns with engineering standards, regulations, and project requirements.

2. Project Support & Communication

  • Collaborate and assist internal teams including senior engineers on projects from concept through to construction to define project requirements and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal staff to ensure deadlines and quality expectations are met.

3. Field Engagement

  • Conduct occasional site visits to validate project progress and ensure quality assurance.
  • Document field observations and communicate findings to the project team for continuous improvement.


Qualifications

  • As the Design Engineer, you will bring:
  • Engineering Degree or Technical Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA or ASET.
  • 1-3 years of experience in civil engineering design and drafting, ideally with exposure to municipal infrastructure or land development.
  • Proficiency with engineering software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar tools.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to manage tasks independently and contribute to shared goals.
  • Ability to quickly transition to new projects, tasks and initiatives while maintaining accuracy, productivity and attention to requirements.
  • Genuine desire to make an impactful contribution to a place where you can build a long-term career.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation as minor travel may be required to ensure the successful execution of projects.
