Field Service Technician II
Job Summary
The Field Service Technician II performs acceptance and maintenance electrical testing, inspections, and basic measurements while collecting accurate test data. This role includes setting up and removing test equipment, performing testing under limited supervision, and supporting project execution from start to finish. The technician demonstrates knowledge of hazardous electrical energy procedures and contributes to safe, efficient field operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- May co-lead projects and assist in coordinating team members alongside lead technicians
- Shares responsibility for project execution, documentation, and final reporting to clients
Duties and Responsibilities
Acceptance & Maintenance Electrical Testing
- Perform acceptance and maintenance electrical testing under limited supervision
- Verify equipment is de-energized and properly locked out/tagged out
- Accurately collect and document test data
Test Equipment & Site Support
- Assist with setup and removal of test equipment for various testing activities
- Ensure proper handling, use, and storage of tools and equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas
- Inspect tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good working condition
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare detailed and accurate test reports
- Submit reports in a timely manner following project completion
Electrical Measurements
- Perform basic electrical measurements under guidance from senior technicians
- Record and report measurement data accurately
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support business needs and operational goals
Required Attributes & Abilities
- Ability to pass background check, MVR check, and pre-employment drug screening
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Basic understanding of electrical theory
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
Experience & Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate’s degree from an accredited technical college or trade school preferred
- NETA Level II certification preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- OSHA 30-Hour, MSHA, NFPA 70E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED, and Power DB training preferred
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to travel overnight up to 50% of the time
- Willingness to work occasional overtime as needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to walk, stand, climb, push, pull, sit, and work in confined or tight spaces
- Potential exposure to dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust
