About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Manager, Corporate Tax to join a growing tax function within a global organization. Reporting directly to the SVP, Tax & Treasury, this role will take ownership of the external tax reporting process in accordance with US GAAP and play a key role in global tax planning, compliance, and audit management. This position is ideal for a strategic thinker with a strong background in tax reporting, particularly within multinational environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the global tax provision and reporting process, including the preparation, review, and consolidation of tax provisions and financial statement disclosures
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to manage tax rate forecasting, budgeting, and financial modelling
- Manage external audits by serving as the primary contact for auditors and coordinating internal responses
- Enhance and implement internal tax processes to manage intercompany balances and streamline the corporate organizational structure
- Support the development and application of transfer pricing policies across the group
- Provide guidance on tax implications related to contracts, transactions, and strategic business decisions
- Monitor, interpret, and communicate the impact of changing tax legislation globally
- Review Canadian and international corporate income tax returns, including analysis under FAPI and surplus rules
- Support M&A activity, including due diligence, deal structuring, and post-acquisition integration from a tax perspective
- Advise on unusual or complex transactions from both a tax compliance and tax accounting standpoint
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Tax, Finance, and Legal teams on ad hoc projects as needed
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive corporate tax experience in both public accounting and industry
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with successful completion of the In-Depth Tax Course (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and tax accounting principles
- Proven ability to manage Canadian and international tax compliance and strategy
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and spreadsheet-based analysis
Preferred Experience & Attributes
- Familiarity with SAP and tax/reporting tools
- Highly detail-oriented with strong documentation skills
- Curious, proactive mindset with a strong interest in the business and operational context of tax issues
- Clear communicator with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders
- Demonstrated ownership of external tax reporting processes and the ability to improve and scale them
