Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

A growing construction and project-based organization is seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. This individual will oversee all financial operations while partnering closely with ownership and operational leaders to support profitability, growth, and long-term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Lead all accounting, finance, and reporting functions
  • Oversee monthly and annual financial reporting
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition, job costing, and project financial reporting
  • Manage audits, tax compliance, and financial controls

Cash Flow & Banking

  • Direct cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning
  • Monitor working capital, receivables, and payables
  • Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and financing activities
  • Support overall financial stability and capital planning

Operations & Project Oversight

  • Partner with operations teams to review project performance and profitability
  • Analyze project budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete estimates
  • Identify financial risks and develop proactive solutions
  • Participate in leadership reviews and strategic decision-making

Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with ownership on growth initiatives and business planning
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and operational improvements
  • Develop key performance metrics and executive reporting tools
  • Support organizational scalability and process improvement efforts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
  • Strong background in construction, project-based, or real estate-related industries
  • Experience with project accounting, WIP schedules, and job costing
  • Proven ability to manage lender, banking, and external stakeholder relationships
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills

Preferred Background

  • Construction management or general contracting experience
  • Experience overseeing large project portfolios and complex operations
  • Knowledge of construction ERP systems and project management software
