This Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Designer role is an exciting opportunity to join a renowned global energy company known for its commitment to innovation and excellence in the field.
In this position, you will be pivotal in the design and development of intricate electrical and instrumentation solutions for industrial projects. Collaborating with a dynamic team of colleagues, you'll be responsible for generating detailed drawings, schematics, and plans to support construction efforts and ensure the accurate installation of materials.
Your expertise will be critical in applying industry standards and codes, conducting calculations, and verifying instrument and electrical installation details. This role offers the chance to contribute to multi-disciplinary design packages, identify project scope changes, and work on projects with a moderate capital investment, all within a forward-thinking and collaborative work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Elaborate on electrical designs for industrial projects.
- Apply expertise in power distribution, grounding, lighting, and control systems within the realm of design.
- Generate drawings and sketches to support construction activities, modification requests, cost estimations, etc.
- Provide essential building control lines and elevations to ensure precise measurements and proper material installation.
- Implement the National Electrical Code (NEC) and perform calculations pertaining to cable sizing and cable tray/conduit fill, among other aspects.
- Apply electrical engineering and design knowledge while adhering to relevant codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Compile and distribute all necessary documentation records, including progress reports, lists of outstanding tasks, completed work sketches, material requirement calculations, etc., to the supervisor.
- Validate and design instrument and electrical installation particulars.
- Efficiently and accurately develop wiring and installation blueprints for electrical equipment and instrumentation, encompassing grounding, lighting, cable tray, power routing plans, instrument location diagrams, wiring schematics, and motor schematics.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) department, as well as with professionals from other disciplines, in a team setting to create comprehensive design packages for construction.
- Identify alterations to the project scope and promptly communicate them to the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Have at least three years of AutoCAD and/or Microstation experience in heavy industrial projects.
- Have a thorough understanding and efficiency with standard design and drafting practices.
- Experienced with instrumentation, hazardous location wiring practices, panel design, and DCS/PLC hardware.
- Able to calculate voltage drop, conduit fill, cable tray fill, etc.
- Must be knowledgeable regarding the NEC Code and Plant Specific Standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Smart plant instrumentation and 3D modeling experience
- Experience in working on projects with a moderate capital investment
Salary
- *This 40-hour-per-week W-2 contract-to-hire consultant role is eligible for benefits. It is based in Katy, TX. The target salary range for this position is from $45 to $75 per hour.
