The Role
We are seeking experienced, detail-oriented NCLEX Item Writers with a strong background in nursing education to develop high-quality, NCLEX-style items. This is a remote, contract-based opportunity ideal for professionals currently engaged in academic nursing who are passionate about contributing to the success of future nurses.
Responsibilities
- Develop NCLEX-style items aligned with current NCSBN guidelines and test plan.
- Create NCLEX-style items for evaluation of various nursing content and levels of difficulty.
- Ensure content is clear, accurate, evidence-based, and reflects real-world clinical scenarios.
- Revise and refine items based on feedback from the editorial and content review teams.
- Review and provide feedback on items written by other team members.
- Collaborate with other item writers, editors, and subject matter experts as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.

Currently teaching in a nursing program (ADN, BSN, or higher).

Minimum of 2 years experience in academic nursing education.

Evidence of NCLEX items you have previously written (required).

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Familiarity with the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (CJMM).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with NCLEX item development or test prep content creation.
- Excellent written communication and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently in a remote setting.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent; Nursing Education focus a plus
