Responsibilities & Qualifications (include but not limited to)

As a full-time employee in Ft. Worth or Dallas, Texas this candidate will primarily be responsible for:

  • Providing mentorship and direction to staff of 8-20 employees
  • Leading all efforts of North Texas Public Sector business unit, reporting to the Regional Managing Director.
  • Actively participating and be responsible for the success of major water/wastewater & roadway infrastructure projects in a professional manner.
  • Providing QA/QC of projects
  • Delegating authority and responsibility
  • Managing workload and resources to complete work on time and under budget
  • Motivating division staff through positive interaction and communication
  • Assisting in hiring, selection, and retention of high caliber/quality employees
  • Communicating with clients (internal and external) & manage their expectations
  • Ability to sell yourself and DEC; build relationships and manage clients
  • Participating in the planning and prepare budgets for the division
  • Developing business plans and identifying/executing potential project pursuits
  • Preparing RFQ proposals
  • Preparing project scope of work, budget, and schedule
  • Must have good interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
  • Coordinating staff sharing with other divisions when appropriate to efficiently accomplish the project work

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Professional Engineer in Texas, or ability to become licensed within six months.

Experience:

At least 12+ years in municipal engineering with at least +2 years of team management and business development.

Skills:

Registered TX P.E., project management, contract negotiations and management, construction phase services and manpower scheduling.

Software: 

Working knowledge of ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, MS Office, and a scheduling program.

Design Projects:

Work experience in design projects is required. Example projects include all infrastructure projects with a focus on water distribution, wastewater collection, grading/drainage, and roadway.

Construction Phase Services:

Experience with RFI’s, minor design modifications, and submittals.

Other Qualifications:

Experience with HCFCD, TxDOT, and other municipalities (Cities, Counties, Drainage Districts, etc.)
