The Human Resources Generalist Position
The Human Resources Generalist, based in the Hilliard, OH office, plays a key role in supporting a wide range of HR functions. This hands-on position is responsible for recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits and compensation administration, training coordination, compliance tracking, and overall employee engagement. The HR Generalist supports both union and non-union workforces and collaborates regularly with the corporate HR team based in Flint, MI.
This role requires a proactive, organized, and adaptable professional who can juggle multiple responsibilities while maintaining a high level of service to employees at all levels of the organization. From facilitating new hire orientations to ensuring compliance with labor regulations and internal policies, the HR Generalist is an essential resource in building a positive and productive workplace culture.
Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities for the HR Generalist Position
- 3-5 years of professional HR experience required
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
- Experience with HRIS platforms is required; UKG Ready preferred.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of labor laws and compliance standards
- Experience supporting both union and non-union employees preferred
- Willingness to travel approximately 25% during training phase; 10-15% ongoing
- A background in basic bookkeeping or familiarity with COINS software is a plus!
