Blueberry River First Nations (BRFN) is looking for a dedicated and motivated Maintenance Worker to support the upkeep and repair of homes and community buildings throughout our Nation. Reporting to the Housing Officer, this hands-on role involves working alongside skilled tradespeople, performing general maintenance tasks, and contributing to a range of repair and improvement projects. The Maintenance Worker plays an important role in helping ensure that BRFN homes and facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained for all community members. Guiding Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Assist in basic carpentry, drywall, flooring, painting, roofing repairs, electrical, plumbing, and heating maintenance.
- Assist with inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance to homes and community buildings.
- Help with minor plumbing repairs, changing fixtures, and assisting in electrical maintenance under supervision.
- Provide support in troubleshooting and maintaining heating systems, including preparing for seasonal changes.
- Assist in general maintenance tasks related to BRFN Public Works.
- Assist in organizing and tracking tools, materials, and supplies for maintenance projects.
- Report safety hazards and assist in responding to emergency repair requests as needed.
- Help with garbage collection, site cleanup, and proper disposal of materials.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all work performed follows safety and industry standards.
- Follow all WorkSafe BC regulations and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.
- Report any unsafe conditions or equipment issues to the Housing Officer.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to foster relationships, particularly with Indigenous communities in a remote setting.

Lived & Learned Experience
Required:
- Highschool Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have valid driver license (BC Class 5) and satisfactory driving record.
- Criminal records check (vulnerable sector).
Preferred:
- Knowledge and appreciation of working in service of Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples
