Job Description: SCADA Technician – Field Operations

Overview:
Integrity PSC is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient SCADA Technician to support substation cutovers, commissioning, and configuration activities for electric utility clients. This role is responsible for executing and validating SCADA system upgrades in the field, coordinating with internal and client teams, and ensuring operational readiness of substation communication infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
· Pre-Cutover Planning & Coordination
· Schedule and coordinate SCADA-related activities at substations, including cutovers and maintenance windows.
· Communicate with internal teams and client Energy Control Centers (ECC) regarding TOAs (Take-Out Authorizations) and enforce “No Touch” policies during critical phases.
· Coordinate travel logistics and crew assignments; distribute work packages including RTU and port server configuration files.
· Review and verify drawings, relay lists, configuration files, and DNP (Distributed Network Protocol) point maps.
· On-Site Field Work
· Arrive on-site, establish secure access, and conduct pre-job briefs with all stakeholders.
· Verify field equipment including RTUs, port servers, relays, and communication circuits.
· Execute RTU backups, temporary configuration uploads, and verify communications with ADMS systems.
· Collaborate with DSCADA and P&C (Protection & Controls) teams to validate temporary setups and return systems to listen mode after pre-checks.
· Commissioning
· Finalize uploads of approved “For Construction” configurations to RTUs and port servers.
· Support EMS and ADMS peer-to-peer (P2P) checkouts to ensure successful message validation for binary inputs/outputs and analogs.
· Assist with final relay updates, DNP mappings, and Fault Distance parameters.
· Submit AS-BUILT configurations, post updated message layouts on site, and transition the system back to remote operations.
· Documentation & Communication
· Maintain accurate records of configuration changes, backups, and TOA compliance.
· Ensure real-time communication with ECC, DOC, and internal project teams.
· Adhere to safety protocols, access policies, and secure storage procedures.
Qualifications:
· 3+ years of experience with SCADA systems, RTU configuration, or substation automation.
· Familiarity with SEL relays, DNP3 protocol, and ADMS/EMS systems.
· Strong understanding of substation operations and utility communication circuits.
· Experience with tools such as WebDMD, Cico, EOS, AOS, and DSCADA platforms.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, connection diagrams, and message layouts.
· Comfortable working independently in remote field environments with travel requirements.
Additional Requirements:
· Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to substations (overnight stays may be required).
· Must pass background checks and security clearance protocols to access client substations.
· Availability for on-call rotation or emergency work may be required.
