Cardinal Fabricating is a family-owned steel fabricator out of Williamston, MI and has been around since 1965. The company specializes in heavy highway/civil MDOT projects supplying fabricated intricate and custom steel pieces to MDOT bridge contractors and signage companies throughout the State of Michigan.

The CAD Drafter Position

Due to organic growth, the Company is hiring a CAD Drafter to join its team. The CAD Drafter will play a vital role in maintaining the company's reputation within the structural steel market in Michigan. This role will be responsible for:

• Reading design drawings, contract documents, and specification to produce shop drawings for fabrication and installation of steel items, such as bridge structural steel, railings, a variety of sign structures, other miscellaneous steel components
• Using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) system to create detail and assembly drawings
• Work with multiple customers and Project Owner/Engineers using applicable industry standards. Consults with contractors, engineers, or other individuals to discuss and resolve issues. Reading and writing Requests for Information (RFI)
• Contributes to and implements design modifications to improve quality of projects and process improvement
• Other duties as assigned

Preferred Experience, Skills & Abilities of the CAD Drafter Position:

• 3+ years of detailing experience, Structural drafting experience is preferred
• AutoCAD experience is required
• Associates Degree in Drafting, Architectural/Engineering Design, or related field
• Knowledge on AISC and MDOT requirements, MDOT specifications
• Strong communication skills
• Effective problem solving and time management skills
