The Human Resources Assistant Position

The Human Resources Assistant performs administrative support tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization's human resource department. This includes submitting background check requests, assisting with the preparation performance reviews, handling DOT other employee-related file maintenance, and assisting with the recruiting and interviewing process.


The position acts as backup for several important HR-related tasks, including payroll (union and non-union), benefits administration, and maintenance of the Company’s social media account(s) and website.


Preferred Experience, Skills, and Abilities for the Human Resources Assistant Position

  • Associate’s degree in related field required, prior Human Resources experience preferred
  • In lieu of a degree, 2+ years of HR experience required
  • Social media experience required
  • MS Office skills, including Excel and Word
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy


The Recruiting Process for the Human Resources Assistant Position

The recruitment process is designed to be a thorough, two-way evaluation to ensure that the best decision is made by both the Company and the candidate. Given this, multiple steps are required, including a phone interview, in-person interviews, candidate assessments, and a pre-employment background check and drug test.
