ErthSearch is working with Pila Energy, a seed-stage startup dedicated to making reliable power accessible through plug-and-play home battery systems. They are modernizing the grid by distributing intelligence and energy storage across homes and small businesses, providing energy resilience to renters and homeowners alike. Their high-impact team brings deep experience from industry leaders like Tesla, Apple, and SPAN to build intuitive hardware and software solutions.


The Role

Pila Energy is looking for an exceptional Embedded Software Engineer, Linux to architect, build, and scale firmware for a distributed nanogrid. You will own features end-to-end, from low-level drivers and real-time controls to mesh networking and secure OTA updates. Collaborating with cross-functional teammates, you will design, prototype, and scale reliable software for real devices in real homes.


Qualifications & Skills

Required

  • 3–7 years of experience building production embedded systems for energy, consumer devices, EVs, or IoT.
  • Mastery of C/C++ for embedded targets and strong proficiency with RTOS platforms such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
  • Proven experience with board bring-up using JTAG/SWD and a solid grasp of device communications like CAN, SPI, I²C, and UART.
  • Familiarity with Linux on embedded platforms and a test-driven mindset involving unit tests, HIL, and CI/CD.


Nice to Have

  • Experience with Zephyr RTOS, ESP-IDF, Yocto, or using Rust for embedded and Linux services.
  • Familiarity with the energy/power domain, including battery BMS, power electronics control, or DER/VPP protocols.
  • Exposure to functional safety practices (IEC 60730/61508) and embedded security like secure boot and firmware signing.
  • Experience with Matter/CHIP or OpenThread certification flows.
